Crookham Rovers U23s triumph with a ruthless 5-1 away victory Over Curley Park

Crookham Rovers U23s secured their second away victory in seven days with a resounding 5-1 win against Curley Park on Saturday, with the team displaying a masterclass in attacking football and defensive solidity, with standout performances across the pitch.

The scoring was opened by Kyle Duffin, who confidently slotted home a penalty after an obvious handball in the box, setting the tone for the game. Mikey Gyuzelev doubled the lead with a composed finish after a brilliant display of one touch, passing football started in Crookham Rovers own 18-yard box, putting them firmly in control at half-time.

After the break, Curley Park managed to pull one back. This sparked a fire in Crookham Rovers and they began to show their dominance that intensified over the last 30 minutes.

Ibrahim Yetik netted twice in quick succession, showing his clinical finishing, before Aiden Gardener wrapped up the scoring a powerful shot after Ben Scarborough had run through the defence only to hit the post. The fifth goal rounded off a relentless attacking display by Rovers.

Head coach Andrew Barber praised his team for their determination and killer instinct in front of goal. "The lads were outstanding today, especially with their hunger to score and the ruthless way they finished their chances," Barber said.

"It was a solid team performance from back to front, and it's great to see that level of commitment from every player," he added

He also gave praise to goalkeeper Ben Piper, who made his debut for Crookham Rovers and put in a strong performance between the sticks.

The defensive unit, led by skipper Thomas King, with Jamie Lavender, Cameron Corlett, and the impressive Harry Legget, provided a resolute foundation for the team, stifling Curley Park's attacks and allowing little room for danger.

In midfield, Ben Scarborough, Jason West, Harrison Stedman, Nate Holloway, Luke Gorton, Tony Barnes, and Harry Barber all contributed significantly, controlling the game and creating multiple opportunities for the forward line.

With two away victories in quick succession, Crookham Rovers U23s are riding high in confidence and will be looking to carry this momentum into their next fixture.
