Crookham Rovers edge Farnham Town U23s in stormy away win

Crookham Rovers battled the elements and a determined Farnham Town U23s side to secure another valuable league win on the road, coming out 2-1 victors despite the blustery conditions caused by Storm Amy.
The first half was evenly contested, with both teams creating, and missing, good chances. With the game goalless at the break, it was Rovers who struck first after the restart when Khalid Dabiri found the net to give the visitors a 1-0 lead.
Farnham Town levelled through a long-range strike that caught the wind perfectly, but Crookham showed their resilience late on. A sweeping team move from back to front saw Mikey Gyuzelev set up Harry Barber, who coolly finished to clinch the win, his second decisive, last-minute goal of the season.
Manager Andrew Barber praised his team’s composure under tough conditions: “The wind made it really tricky today, but the lads dug deep and kept playing our football. The second goal summed up what we’re about - teamwork, determination and taking our chances when they come. It’s a big three points in difficult circumstances.”
The victory lifts Crookham Rovers up to second place in the Aldershot and District Football League table, leapfrogging Farnham Town and moving just two points behind leaders Simply Soccer Spartans. The two sides are set to meet in a top-of-the-table clash next Saturday (11th October) in Basingstoke.
